While Andriy Ishchenko was drafted, his vocal gifts were dicovered. He was advised to study voice at a conservatory.

Ishchenko started his studies in 1959 at the Kiev conservatory with Rimma Razumova.

He was a soloist at the Kiev Opera.

Ishchenko sang Cassio in a Otello with V. T. Tryetyak (Otello), S. Kozak (Iago) and K. Radchenko (Desdemona).

In 1975, Ishchenko sang in the premiere of Yaroslav Mudriy by Heorhiy Maiboroda (b. Pelekhivshchyna khutir, Kremenchuk county, Poltava oblast, Ukraine, 18 November 1913 - d. Kiev, 6 December 1992) at the Kiev Opera house. His role was the second tenor Zhureyko, a stone-mason

In 1985, Ishchenko had to stop singing due to health reasons.

I wish to thank Vladimir Efimenko for his help.
