Béla Kövecses - born January 1st, 1919, in Budapest, where he sang at the Opera House from 1946
to 1975. Appeared also in leading roles such as Ernesto, Hoffmann, Pinkerton (hard to imagine,
but there you are). Here, he is singing Cassio with Simándy and Radnai, both unfortunately not
in their best vocal condition (what an Otello cast this could have been -
Radnai being quite certainly the most fascinating Iago ever, but less so on this record)
I would like to thank Robert Schlesinger for the recording and notes.
