The Studio roles were not counted as they cannot be counted as real performances. Domingo's website (or his book) states that he appeared in 114 (probaly more by now) roles and that no other tenors sang more roles. Not true at all, recording roles should not be counted. This brings the total to 96 roles (including different roles performed during the same evening in an opera) on stage or in concert. If you look at Rubini's repertory, among others, on this site, you will see that Rubini sang a lot more roles than Domingo.
