Ljubomir Bodurov was born on October 12th 1925 in Burgas. Bodurov studied
at the Sofia conservatory with K. Kirova. In 1950, Ljubomir Bodurov made his debut at the Sofia
National Opera in Zeller's "Der Vogelhändler".
From the mid 60s, Bodurov went often on tour often at
Bruxelles, Amsterdam, Barcelona, and the USSR.
In the 70s, Bodurov recorded for Balkanton complete operas such as "Boris Godunov", "Khovanschina"
and Verdi's "Requiem".
Attending the Music Academy of Sofia, Bodurov was a student of Konstanza Kirova. Following his debut with the operetta troupe
Stefan Macedonski in 1950, singing the role of Adam in the operetta Der Vogelhandler by Zeller, he went on to make his debut at the
Bolshoi on April 1st, 1956, singing Don José in Carmen. From 1957, he worked successfully with the Sofia National Opera.
International appearances took him to the famous opera houses of Moscow, Brussels, Barcelona,
Amsterdam, Paris and into West Germany. In addition to Europe, he appeared in the United States singing with the Chicago Opera and
with great success in Tokyo.
His repertoire included Don José, Don Carlo, Edgardo, Cavaradossi, German (Pique Dame), Des Griuex and Eric in Der Fliegende Holländer.
In addition to opera, he was well known as a concert and oratorio singer. Liubomir Bodurov died in Sofia during April, 1992.
