József Járay

1913 - 1970
Járay made his debut at the Opera House Budapest in 1941 as Heinrich (Tannhäuser). Járay sung mainly roles in operas of Puccini between 1942-1949. After that period, he performed in South America. He returned to Hungary in 1956, to the Opera House Budapest, where he performed until 1964. He ended his career as member of the Csokonai Theatre in Debrecen. Other roles included Calaf, Andrea Chenier, and Don José.
