Todor Kostov was born in Varna on the 24th August, 1928. He graduated in 1952 from the Secondary Music School in Varna as a student of Viara Zdraveva. A year after his graduation, he was engaged by the Varna Opera. After additional studies in Rome with L. Ricci of the roles of Radames and Cavaradossi, he made his debut as Cavaradossi with the Varna Opera on March 13rd, 1953. In addition to regular appearances with the Sofia Opera and other opera companies in Bulgaria, he guest appeared in Roumania during 1956, Czechoslovakia 1957-61, USSR, Yugoslavia, and Belgium. Major roles of his career included Radames, Don José, Manrico, Don Carlo, Faust, Cavaradossi and Ricardo in Ballo in Maschera.

His wife was the Soprano MARIA BOHACHEK, really great. They sung together 30 years in Varna.
