Oldřich Kovář was born on February 21st., 1907 in Prague. He made his debut as a singer in 1930 at the opera theatre Svandove, took part in the vocal competition in Settleri (1931). Kovář studied singing with A.Veleckeho, J.Bardeje, and took lessons with E.Fuchse, and A.Piccaver. The singer then sang in small opera houses. In 1938, he made his debut at the Prague national opera as Hoffmann. Oldřich Kovář's best parts include Alfred, Lenski, and Almavaviva. Kovar sang on the opera up to 1954, and in concerts up to 1963. He has died in Prague on April 5th., 1967.
