Dezső Mátray was born on July 28th. 1872 in Hódmezővásárhely. He studied singing in Budapest, made his debut in Leipzig. Mátray sang at the Opera in Breslau during 1903. In 1904, he made his debut in Bayreuth as Tannhäuser. In 1905, Mátray was the principal tenor at the Budapest opera. Matray recorded little for Odeon and G&T.
