Jurij Reja was a leading tenor of the Ljubljana Opera House during 1974-1998. His repertory includes: Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Oedipus Rex, Manon, the bartered bride, Lucia di Lammermoor, la Bohème, Fra Diavolo, Dimitrij, Simpleton and Shuisky in Boris Godunov, Don Carlos, l'elisir d'amore, Werther and Faust. He is now over 62 years old and retired. In his early career, he was also a "pop singer"- but in the best sense of the word such as old French chansons singers, for example Tino Rossi, Charles Trenet and so on. Reja studied singing at the Ljubljana Academy of Music, after the graduation there, he also studied with Anton Dermota and Ksenija Vidali. Ksenija Vidali was later the teacher of Janez Lotric.
