Ivo 種dek was born on the 4th of June 1926 in Kravare. He studied singing with R.Vaska. He made his debut at the Ostrava Opera in 1945, where he sang Faust, and Werther. In 1948, he made his debut at the Prague national Opera (Enek). He sang in Buenos Aires, Berlin, and London. The singer sang mainly lyrical parts. During 1989-1991, he was the director of the Prague National Opera. He died in Prague on the 20th of May 2003.

Ivo 種dek (1926 - 2003) began his career when he was nineteen years old in Ostrava, where he sang Werther, Faust and other roles. From 1948 on, he sang at the National theatre in Prague. Several years, he sang at the State opera in Vienna. He had a beautiful sonorous voice with excellent high notes. Among his best roles were: Jenk (The Bartered Bride), Princ (Rusalka), 閣eva (Jenufa), Skuratov ( From The House of Dead), Michel (Julietta), Faust, Werther, Don Carlos, Don Ottavio, and Lohengrin.
