Cammarota made his debut in Italy in 1882. In 1886, Cammarota sang in Pisa in 1886 as Alfredo at the Teatro Rossi.

In 1897, he moved to Zagreb where he was engaged for the season at National Croatian Opera. He remained there until his retirement in 1924 and sang in several local premieres (Bohème (1898), Mefistofele,Canio (1894) Werther, Cavalleria rusticana, Les contes Hoffmann) and in the world premiere of Porin (October 2, 1897) by Vatroslav Lisinsky (Zagreb, 8 July 1819 – Zagreb, 31 May 1854)).
